How to Export Comparison Videos with WebGL Transitions
DualView includes over 100 GPU-accelerated transitions for exporting comparison videos. Whether you're creating before/after reveals for clients, social media content, or portfolio pieces, these transitions add professional polish to your comparisons. This guide covers everything you need to know about exporting with transitions.
Why Use Transitions?
A simple cut between "before" and "after" works, but transitions create more engaging content. They draw the viewer's eye to the change, add visual interest, and make your comparisons more shareable on social platforms. DualView's WebGL transitions render in real-time using your GPU, so preview and export are fast.

Best Transitions for Different Use Cases
VFX Before/After
For showing visual effects work, subtle transitions work best. The Radial Wipe or Horizontal Wipe lets viewers focus on the VFX rather than the transition. The classic Dissolve is also effective.
AI Image Generation
When comparing AI-generated images or upscaling results, try Morph transitions like Liquify or Wave. They create an interesting effect that highlights how the AI interpreted the image differently.
Color Grading
For color grade comparisons, quick transitions work well. Dissolve or Fade at 0.5-1s duration lets viewers see the color shift smoothly. Avoid flashy transitions that distract from the color work.
Social Media
For Instagram, TikTok, or Twitter, eye-catching transitions get more engagement. Try Glitch Block, VHS, or Chromatic Aberration for a trendy look. Zoom Punch creates an impactful reveal.
When exporting a GIF for social media, set Hold Duration to 2-3 seconds on each side. The transition will loop smoothly, creating a satisfying before/after loop that viewers can watch multiple times.
Sweep Animations
In addition to transitions between A and B, DualView offers sweep animations that reveal the "after" image progressively:
- Horizontal Wipe — Left-to-right reveal
- Vertical Wipe — Top-to-bottom reveal
- Diagonal — Corner-to-corner reveal
- Circle Expand — Expanding circle from center
- Rectangle Expand — Growing rectangle
- Spotlight Bounce — Moving spotlight that bounces
- Spotlight Circle — Circular spotlight motion
Performance Tips
- 4K exports with complex transitions may take longer — be patient
- If your GPU is struggling, try 1080p first to preview
- GIF exports are slower than video due to frame-by-frame processing
- Chrome and Edge typically have best WebGL performance
